Born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York, Trump was the fourth of five children. Trump’s political journey started in 2015, when he announced his candidacy with the slogan, “Make America Great Again.” After a contentious 2016 election, he defeated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, taking office in 2017 as the 45th President of the United States. His term saw controversial decisions, including trade wars and withdrawals from major climate and trade agreements, which often strained U.S. relations with its allies.

Despite his legal battles, Trump remained the Republican frontrunner, announcing another bid for the presidency. In May 2024, he was found guilty of 34 counts of fraud but continued his campaign. A near-fatal assassination attempt during a summer rally in Pennsylvania and an injury at the Republican National Convention only seemed to fuel his resolve.
